Novel Theocracy in History
In present Iran, the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, is the absolute ruler, with executive, judiciary, legislative, economy, armed forces (including Revolutionary Guard), intelligence, radio and television all under his control. Even dictators like Stalin, Hitler and Mao Tse.tung never possessed such destructive power.
Ayatollah Khamenei considers himself to be the sole representative of God, and has the certitude of having a direct pipeline to God without having to answer to anyone.
The world still does not understand the nature of this regime and its design and dangers to regional stability and word peace. The Islamic regime and its supporters in the West often cite periodical elections as proof of democratic rule in Iran. This claim is erroneous and, as witnessed in February 2004, the Majlis elections were a sham, and a majority of citizens boycotted the elections and rejected the regime.
Regrettably, there are still some people in the United States that do not comprehend the nature of the ruling clerics. It would be the height of folly to trust the theocratic regime and to engage in dialogue with this sponsor of international terrorism.
