Angelina Jolie brought a refreshing twist to her classic red carpet style at the Los Angeles premiere of Maria, captivating fans with a rare, voluminous curly hairstyle that showcased her versatility.
Jolie turns heads with curly hairstyle
The 49-year-old actress, known for her sleek, straight hair, opted for soft, bouncy waves that cascaded elegantly over her shoulders.
The Los Angeles event, part of the AFI Film Festival, marked a special night as Jolie celebrated her role in the highly anticipated Pablo Larraín-directed biopic.
Jolie's look featured a luxurious blend of old Hollywood glamor and modern elegance.
Her loose, beachy curls were complemented by a champagne satin gown and a black cape, exuding an effortless sophistication.
She completed the look with bold red lipstick, subtle eye makeup, and matching red nails, tying together a striking appearance that left fans buzzing.
Jolie's confession about similarities with Maria Callas
The actress spoke to PEOPLE about her connection to her role as Maria Callas, the legendary soprano whose life was marked by fame and isolation.
Reflecting on her portrayal of Callas, Jolie noted a deep personal resonance with the character.
"I know there are certain things that people would assume from the distance that we have in common, but I think what we have in common maybe is that we share a certain loneliness in kind of sometimes doing our work where we're the one, I don't know, up at night, alone, trying to figure something out," she shared.
Jolie continued, "I may be many things, but I'm a very hard worker, right? I'm an imperfect person, but I work very hard, and she does. And so I think we see ourselves, I don't know if she or I ever would see ourselves as anything but a performer and a worker who has a job to do, and probably very hard on ourselves."
Her words gave fans a glimpse into the dedication and introspection she poured into the role, which involved months of preparation to capture Callas's spirit.
The film Maria follows the opera singer during her final days in Paris as she reflects on her life, career, and identity.
With its November release in select theaters and Netflix streaming starting December 11, Maria has already generated substantial interest, especially after receiving a standing ovation at the New York Film Festival in September.
