The Cowboys have been struggling this season

Shannon Sharpe seems to have written off the Dallas Cowboys' season entirely, stating that nothing the team does now can change the disappointing direction they're headed.

Despite the team having the highest-paid quarterback in the league, they continue to struggle, and Sharpe has made it clear that he believes their situation is beyond repair.

At 3-4, the Cowboys aren't out of the playoff race just yet, but the former NFL tight end is not optimistic about their chances.

On his show Nightcap, Sharpe was blunt about what he thinks of the Cowboys' season and the roster that Jerry Jones has put together.

When asked how the team could turn things around without changing their personnel, Sharpe delivered a harsh assessment, stating, "There are no answers...I don't have the personnel. I don't have guys that are big enough, that are stout enough to be able to stand in there and protect."

Sharpe believes that Jerry Jones has made the critical error of focusing too much on a handful of key players, including Dak Prescott, while neglecting to build a deep and balanced team.

"Jerry Jones bet all of his money on a couple of weapons and did not diversify," Sharpe noted, pointing out that this lack of depth is at the heart of the Cowboys' current struggles.

Prescott, who signed a massive four-year, $240 million contract before the season, has not lived up to expectations. His performance has been underwhelming, and it's particularly frustrating given the high hopes surrounding his role.

The Cowboys were supposed to come out of their bye week rejuvenated, but instead, they continued their downward spiral with a 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

What Went Wrong in the Cowboys' Latest Loss?

While the Cowboys showed flashes of promise in the first half of their game against the 49ers, things quickly fell apart in the third quarter.

San Francisco had a sloppy start, but once they found their footing, Dallas seemed to lose all their momentum. The Cowboys went from leading at halftime to trailing by 10 points after a disastrous series of mistakes in the third quarter.

Prescott's struggles were on full display. For the fourth time this season, he threw multiple interceptions and seemed unable to find his rhythm when it mattered most.

In the final minutes, with an opportunity to take the lead, Prescott threw four consecutive incompletions, handing the ball back to the 49ers and effectively sealing the Cowboys' fate.

Sharpe's blunt take on the Cowboys' season reflects the frustration felt by many fans and analysts.

Whether or not the Cowboys can defy expectations and salvage their season remains to be seen, but right now, it seems unlikely that they will be able to turn things around.
